Anse Chastanet
Soufriere
BB/HB/AI
7nts from £1289
Anse Chastanet is St. Lucia\'s only resort property with the iconic view of both the Piti and Gros Piton mountains floating upon the Caribbean Sea. The location of the property is unsurpassed, a private estate of 600 lush tropical acres bordering two soft, sandy Caribbean beaches with pristine coral reefs just off shore. The resort property includes the historical plantation of Anse Mamin and Emerald Estate where the resort grows its own organic produce. There are approximately 100 stairs leading from beach level to mid-hillside level, thus making the property unsuitable for those with walking difficulties or cardiac problems. This is never a question of age. A complimentary shuttle service from beachside to hillside level is provided any time it is requested.

Accommodation

Anse Chastanet offers 49 individually designed rooms, 37 of which are scattered about a verdant hillside, and 12 which are nestled within a tropical garden at beach level. The use of local woods and other local products is emphasised in the room decor and furnishings. Cushions and bedspreads are made from colourful cotton fabrics called madras, the island's "national cloth." Even the resort bathrobes are locally made and have become a popular souvenir item!  The furniture has been individually designed and handmade in the region with the exclusive use of the island woods such as teak, mahogany, green heart, red cedar and wild breadfruit. All rooms have fridges, electric tea/coffee makers and wall mounted hair dryers, and in-room safes. Deluxe and Premium rooms also have irons and ironing boards.

Standard and Superior Hillside

Superior rooms are located on the hillside and are octagonal or rectangular in shape, with 2 twin beds or one king size bed, with ocean and/or Piton view. Standard rooms are slightly smaller than Superior rooms with twin, queen or king size bedding, with garden or partial ocean view.

When booking Standard category, you could be located on either hillside or beachside - the category is based on "run of house" principle which may lead to a complimentary upgrade to Superior or Beachside Deluxe location, at the Resort's discretion. Both Standard and Superior rooms have clay or tropical hardwood floors with either glass or wooden jalousie louvre windows, ceiling fans and balconies, ensuite bathrooms with shower and toilet.

Deluxe Beachside

All beachside rooms are Deluxe category rooms. Beachside Deluxe rooms are very spacious rooms with either 2 doubles or 1 king size bed, en suite bathroom with 2 sinks, shower and toilet. They have clay tiles, wooden jalousie louvre windows, ceiling fans and large balconies or patios. All beachside rooms offer a tropical garden view, just a few steps from the water's edge.

Deluxe Hillside

Hillside Deluxe rooms are extremely spacious and individually designed, some in a very open-air style with the fourth wall missing and some with dramatic open roof dormers. Some rooms have a formal separation between bedroom and living room, others are wide open spaces flowing into each other. Clay floor tiles or tropical hardwood floor, king size bed, wooden jalousie louvres, ceiling fans, balconies, and very large en suite bathrooms with 2 sinks, shower and WC, Piton and/or ocean view.

Premium Hillside

Premium rooms are Anse Chastanets rooms numbered 7, offering picture postcard perfect views of the Piton mountains and the surrounding sea by virtue of their very elevated and strategic location. Some Premium rooms have fourth wall missing. All Premium hillside rooms have ceiling fans, clay floor tiles or tropical hardwood floors, wooden jalousie louvres, large en suite bathrooms.

Two Bedroom Suites

Anse Chastenets offers a few selected two bedroom 2 bathroom suites which are available on request. Suite/room combinations are available in Standard/Superior, Deluxe Hillside and Premium Categories.

Infinity Pool Sanctuaries at Jade Mountain

Located high on Morne Chastanet, overlooking the Pitons and Caribbean Sea, JADE MOUNTAIN is a resort within a resort at ANSE CHASTANET. Expect grand sweeping spaces, with your sleeping and living areas and an extravagantly sized infinity edge pool - one in each sanctuary - flowing into one another to form an amazing floating platform with the 4th wall missing entirely - the result being a stage-like setting from which to embrace the full glory of St. Lucia's twin Pitons and the shimmering Caribbean Sea - a view you are not likely to ever forget.

Restaurants and Bars

Anse Chastanet is very actively involved with the island's local farmers to assist them in understanding which produce is essential to our culinary style. Together with our horticultural team, we have recently been further expanding our own gardens, cultivating fresh herbs and fresh fruits which are grown amidst the historical ruins of the Anse Mamin plantation, part of Anse Chastanets

600 acre estate. The dinner menu changes daily and consists of a 4 course meal served in a romantic candlelit atmosphere surrounded by beautiful original artwork.

Treehouse

Part of the Piton Restaurant is the Treehouse, where diners are seated in an open-air area amidst treetops as the name suggests. Dinner is served daily with the exception of Tuesdays.  At Anse Chastanets Treehouse Restaurant, we have created a celebrated award winning Tropical World Cuisine, blending Caribbean cuisine with other world cuisine experiences, from French to Mediterranean and from Fusion to world cuisine.  Our menus always include vegetarian options and our.

Trou au Diable Restaurant

Serves lunch and dinner daily. The lunch menu offers a wide and varied choice of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers and creole specialities from an à la carte menu, in addition to a large buffet spread with hot and cold dishes.  On Tuesday evenings, all guests enjoy our special Caribbean Buffet which commences with a cocktail reception followed by dinner in the Trou au Diable beach restaurant. The atmosphere is festive with the entire stretch of beach in front of the restaurant lit up by flambeau candles.  The Trou au Diable restaurant offers a special Indian theme menu titled Apsara on all evenings except Tuesday. Psara is an innovative fusion of modern East Indian and Caribbean cooking, a celebration of St.Lucia’s historical and cultural ties with East India.

Beach Grill

On all evenings except Tuesdays, we serve a beach grill menu in the beach bar giving our guests the option to enjoy light grilled fare near the water's edge in a casual setting.

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea is served from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily in both the Piton Bar and Beach Bar, and an afternoon snack menu is also available at that time.

Dress Code

Our dress code in the evenings is smart casual. Gentlemen usually wear collared shirts and Bermuda shorts or trousers. Light cotton or linen clothing is the most comfortable. At lunch, we request dry clothing in the beach restaurant and a light cover up.

The two bars - Piti Piton Bar at the Treehouse Restaurant and the Trou au Diable beach restaurant are open daily and offer a wide selection of tropical cocktails, beers, liquor including also fine malt whiskeys, eau-de-vies and after dinner drinks. Scuba St. Lucia

This is the primary attraction Anse Chastanet resort has for travelling divers. It is in the heart of St.Lucia's very best diving: the entire region surrounding the resort is vested into an award winning marine reserve (SMMA) which has been established since 1995 to protect the pristine beauty of St.Lucia's coral reefs.

This is an SSI Platinum Pro/ PADI Gold Palm Dive Centre and DAN (Divers Alert Network) Partners in Dive Safety facility, located at the south end of Anse Chastanet beach. Founded in 1981, Scuba St.Lucia has established itself as one of the world's top diving destinations. Scuba St.Lucia offers great diving and comprehensive facilities for divers of all levels.  Perfectly set up for both beach and boat dives, Scuba St. Lucia offers guests gear storage; a well equipped scuba store; three compressors; rental dive gear and an underwater Photo and Video centre. All dives offered by Scuba St Lucia are guided by an instructor or dive master to maximize diver safety and enjoyment. The marine reserve policy is to "look but don't touch". Even empty shells should be left on the sea bed, and great care taken not to touch or kick the corals so hopefully the reef can be preserved for future generations of divers to enjoy.

Scuba St Lucia is an ideal place to learn to dive, with warm clear waters and a shallow, protected reef so close to the Dive Centre. The introductory Scuba course is offered most days a week and Open Water Certification courses start every week. A full range of courses; Advanced Open Water, Rescue diver, Dive master, Assistant Instructor, Specialties, are available by arrangement. The pace in St Lucia is always slow and relaxed, but the diving, activities are efficiently organised with the minimum of fuss - the staff are very accommodating and will do their best to help out with "special requests".

Scuba St Lucia has a talented and friendly multinational staff. Scuba St Lucia's local dive leaders are true professionals who have logged thousands of dive hours in the marine reserve and will show you the fantastic sights on the reefs.

Scuba St.Lucia operates with three dive boats: Miss Ina, Miss Bertha and Jenny-Marie. The dive boats are all equipped with fresh drinking water, full safety equipment, first aid kits and a DAN Oxygen unit.

Scuba St.Lucia recently upgraded their filling station by adding a BAUER SECURUS AIR SYSTEM. This is the first and only filtration system of its kind in St. Lucia providing the purest air quality available in the industry. There are two BAUER K14 and a BAUER K15 compressor supplying close to 40 cfpm.

Scuba St. Lucia has over 200 Aluminium scuba tanks in both 63 cu.ft. and 80 cu.ft. All rental gear is serviced on a regular basis to ensure top quality and safety. The facility is equipped with four large fresh water rinse tanks with disinfectant inside and all gear is washed after each use. The rental facility is fully equipped with the latest scuba gear: Scuba Pro regulators with Octopus, low pressure Inflator, depth and pressure gauge and our BCD's are from Seaquest/Aqualung and 3mm shorty wetsuits. Also available for rental to certified divers are masks, fins, snorkels and wetsuits

Diving

The Anse Chastanet reef starts just 10 yards beyond the water's edge. The reef's exceptional ecosystem offers an amazing profusion of unusual tropical marine life, in 20 to 140 feet of calm, clear water. The Reef which is home to more than 150 different species of fish makes for an incredible dive day or night. In the shallow areas be sure to keep your eyes open for peacock flounders, octopus, needle fish and turtles. Or drop down a little deeper over dense coral growth to see puffers, moray eels, parrot fish, lobsters and even sea horses. A unique dive site for all abilities and especially good for macro photography

The shore dive is a required "first" dive for dive guests. It allows divers to feel reassured that all equipment is functioning properly, that their buoyancy skills are adequate for entering the marine reserve and to provide an orientation to the type of diving for which St Lucia is renowned. This reef is a favourite of most professional underwater photographers and videographers who visit Anse Chastanet.

The boat dives should also not be missed - dramatic walls beneath the majestic Piton Mountains, Superman's flight, a drift dive in the shadow of the Petit Piton, Coral Gardens and Jalousie under the Gros Piton, Piton Wall, the wreck of the "Lesleen M", Anse La Raye and Anse Cochon. Closer to home for the afternoon boat trips but no less spectacular sites, the diver can explore Fairyland, Turtle Reef, Grand Caille, Trou Diable, the Pinnacles and much more.

Night dives are offered at least twice weekly on Anse Chastanet's Reef, which really "wakes up" at night, with many interesting crustaceans on the move, large basket stars, sleeping parrot fish, octopus and squid, bioluminescence and the "THING".
