Location

Southern Palms is located on the beach on the South Coast, in St. Lawrence Gap which has a wide selection of restaurants, night life and shops, all within easy walking distance from the Hotel.  The hotel is just 4.5 miles from the Capital Bridgetown and about 25 minutes from the Airport.

 Accommodation

Southern Palms offers a unique blend of colonial style buildings amongst manicured gardens with a relaxing ambiance and friendly staff to provide every assistance to make this the perfect location for business or pleasure.

The Hotel has 92 rooms situated in 6 pink buildings, with 3 categories to choose from and even the Garden / Pool view rooms have a good view of the beach and sea!

The rooms have many facilities and well appointed Caribbean style decor and cool ceramic tiles. There are variations in the architecture of each of the buildings therefore the rooms will differ slightly however all of our rooms have balconies or patios so that you can bring the ocean breeze into your room.

Every room is air-conditioned, has a private bathroom, balcony or patio and all units have telephone with data port and voice mail, radio, television with satellite, kettle, fridge, hairdryer and room safe. Most rooms have wireless access and you will find ‘hot spots’ in some public areas. Safety deposit boxes are available at the Front Desk free of charge.  

The views from the Garden / Pool View rooms include the striking contrasts of the green tropical foliage, against the hues of  beautiful Barbadian skies.. Many of the Garden/Pool view rooms also have views of the beach.

Ocean View Rooms:

Suites

Every suite is air-conditioned and well appointed with Caribbean style décor, private bathroom, balcony or patio and all units have telephone with data port and voice mail, radio, television with satellite, hairdryer and room safe. The suites all have a kitchenette unit set up for 4 persons. Most suites have wireless access and you will find ‘hot spots’ in some public areas.    Safety deposit boxes are available at the Front Desk free of charge. All suites have views of the beach, some are facing the ocean while some have a side view.

Luxury Suites:

Suites in Palm Court and Jasmin buildings are on ground and upper floors, all units have living room and bed room on the same level, with units in Palm Court having the ability to adjoin 2 units to accommodate larger families.  Amenities include 2 flat screen TV's, DVD player, luxury beds with latex tops and fine linen.

Duplex Suites:

The Duplex Suites are situated on the top floor of the Crescent building at the eastern end of the property. The living room is on the lower level with an ocean view balcony and the bedroom is upstairs with a connecting roof deck terrace. Families with small children cannot be accommodated in Duplex unit because the stairs could pose a safety concern.

Restaurants and Bars

Garden Terrace Restaurant

The Garden Terrace Restaurant at Southern Palm serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with various specialty nights such as Buffet and BBQ’s accompanied by Live Entertainment 3 nights a week and Sunday lunchtime.  The Khus Khus Bar is open daily where an all day menu is available. 

The Garden Terrace Restaurant along with the Khus Khus Bar provides a tranquil and picturesque setting in the evenings with the moonlit ocean and the pristine white sand, arguably one of the best beaches on the Island. The Restaurant has a fresh tropical feeling of comfort and combined with a superb meal you will certainly know you’re are in the right place!

Garden Terrace Hours

Breakfast: 7:30am-10:30am

Lunch: served in the bar area or around the pool with an all-day Menu selection

11:00am- 10:00pm

Dinner: 6:00pm-10:00pm

Happy Hour: Daily, except Monday, from 6:00pm-7:00pm

Room Service: 7:30am-10:00pm

Breakfast: Start the day with a tempting selection of dishes from the full Buffet in our Garden Terrace Restaurant, or choose from our A-la-Carte Breakfast menu.

Lunch: lunch menu is available as an all day or evening option in the Khus Khus Bar as a casual alternative to the fine dining in The Garden Terrace Restaurant.

On Sunday there is the Pie Buffet Lunch complimented with the sounds of the All Stars Steel Orchestra which is a very popular way to spend a Sunday afternoon in this beautiful tropical paradise enjoying good food and good company.

Dinner: In the evenings dining ranges from gourmet A-la-Carte, Table D'Hote, Barbeque and Buffets complimented by varied entertainment as follows:

Monday: Either Full Buffet or Light Grill (available seasonally) with Live Music by "The Red men"

Thursday: Full Barbeque/Buffet Selection with Live Steel pan Music by "The All Stars Steel Orchestra"

Saturday: A Roast Beef Buffet and Live Dance Music supplied by "Syndikyt"

On alternate evenings there is a Table d'hote Menu with Gourmet Menu available seasonally.

In addition to catering for Hotel Guests general catering facilities are on offer and a wide range of events such as Wedding Receptions, Awards Dinners, graduations etc. are frequently held

Activities and Amenities

During your stay you will have time to enjoy the facilities, such as the 2 freshwater swimming pools, shuffleboard, mini-golf, 2 flood lit tennis courts, free water sports including windsurfing and weekly scuba instruction, also a mini gym.   Complimentary afternoon tea is available on a daily basis by the small pool and the Manager’s Rum Punch party is held once a week. There is a minigolf course and shuffleboard court with weekly tournaments when prizes can be won.   

 Other facilities include an on-site Beauty Salon and a Souvenir Shop.  There is a Conference Room suitable for businesses and private parties so that whatever your needs Southern Palms is ready to assist in making the event successful. 

Tennis

Day use is free, evenings are £3.00 for use of the lights and George Grant, the tennis pro is available Monday to Saturday 8:00h-10:00h and 16:00h-18:00h for coaching, playing or just hitting.  So just come along and play, this is your chance to work on that backhand or just to get in shape! Racquets are available for rental at a rate of £1/hour and tennis balls can be purchased.

Water sports

For the best beach activities on this side of the island, your water sports needs can be accommodated at Southern Palms, whether it be snorkelling, body surfing (boogie boarding) or windsurfing. For those who enjoy a little beach volleyball, a ball and a net for you are also provided. Beach towels are also available.

All of these facilities are complimentary and to obtain any of the equipment please visit Cally in the water sports shop from 09:00h-12:30h and 13:30h-17:00h.

Rodney, the windsurfing instructor, is available for lessons on Thursdays. Registration may be done at the water sports shop.

Mini Golf

The mini golf course is a 9 hole putting range, situated to the west of the lobby. You can practice during your stay and then enter the tournament each Friday at 15:00h. Putters and balls are available, free of charge, at the Water sports shop.

Shuffleboard

Shuffleboard is available next to the mini golf course. The equipment can be also be collected from the Water sports Shop so you can get it together for a tournament.

Scuba Diving

The scuba instructor will provide free weekly scuba lessons every tuesday at 10:30h for guests in the main pool.

Tours

Jenni Wilson, the Activities Director is on hand to advise you on Island Tours, car rentals, cruises or any of the other fascinating and adventurous things to do in Barbados.
